WW2 in 10mm Practice

John M and myself had a little mess about with ww2 on Saturday to give me an idea of the rules

A simple affair starting out with a single tank each working up to a few shermans taking on a panther.

Finishing off with a bit of fun as a load of shermans trying to get in close and do some damage to a Tiger II.

It was interesting to see how it all played out and for a 40 year old set of rules it worked really well.

The tanks are from Pendraken's 10mm ww2 range and are really lovely.

Massive WW2 10mm

I've been pretty distracted with life and work of late but I managed to make my way down to the club to see what was on the go this Saturday.

It appears I have been missing out big time as there have been some spectacular battles on the go (last week the Riders of Rohan were up against 2 elephants!!!).

This week all the guys got together and done a beautiful looking 10mm WW2 game.

Four tables were used filling a third of the room.

Jon B prepared the excellent looking terrain for Italy in WW2.

There were six players on the day.

The Allied players were JP with his newly finished Americans plus John B and David P jnr with Commonwealth troops

His US troops seen here . . .

. . . clearing streets and checking houses for resistance.

JP's recon and armour advancing through a wooded area just outside the town.

German recon edging slowly along the cemetery wall.

A German section checking out some buildings.

And a German heavy machine gun team sitting in ambush.
Some closeups of the

How cute is this? A 10mm Kubelwagon, sweet!

And a Panzer IV from John M's collection.

A PAK and transport ready to shoot the Sh** out of some unfortunate Allied armour.

The Germans for the day were John M, young Stephen and David P snr.

Some artillery starting to pick off the Allied armour.

A blood bath in the centre of town as the Allies advance guard run head long into heavy German resistance.

Some more Germans making their way through a build up area. is that a couple of ninjas too?

More of John M's Armour waiting to come into the battle.

WW2 in 10mm 5th Dec

The John's had their really nice WW2 battle on the go again with young Martin and Thomas (remembered your name this time!) the student's for the day.

Excellent looking terrain as always.

And beautiful looking vehicles.

It's hard to believe the vehicles are 10mm!

Some Allied mobile artillery, four Priests with their support.

And some Allied armour with artillery spotter in the background.

A unit of half tracks with mortars. Sorry for the blurry pic!

How good does this battlefield look!

Most of the pictures I took didn't turn out guys, sorry I was just too damn tired or maybe it was John's beard that was making me shake with fear?

WW2 in 10mm 28.11.09

The 2 John's, young Martin and another friend (sorry bud can't remember your name?) were fighting out a little Italy WW2 scenario. As I was involved in a DBM game I didn't get a real chance to follow the action so just a few pictures to show the gear.

My brothers favourite! A couple of tigers rumbling along the road. (The buildings are from Timecast painted up and based by Jon B, Jon has done a really sweet job on detailing the buildings as terrain)

Wespe's and command.

The centre of the battlefield in flames.

Some Allied half tracks edge through the woods.

Sherman's and fireflies head cross country as their recon unit takes some heavy fire.

Achilles heading down a country road, loads of detail on the castings with the 50 cal. easy to make out.

Some 251's taking a break in the street.

Some nice looking Allied artillery with mad looking matadors!

The 251's taking a shelling. Again looked like a really enjoyable game. I believe it got a little bogged down in the end with the rules needing a little tinkering.

Just a wee bit of fun by myself to see if I could recreate a 1944 Tigers in Normandy type picture. I look forward to seeing some different scenarios from the guys. They have some nice early war Germans.

I am kicking myself as I had a chance of picking up a neat little 10mm late war Russian army off ebay and missed the finish time! Ahhhhhhhhhh!!

Italy WW2 in 10mm

Saturday 31st October 2009 seen our club take up residence in its new home: The Tom Craig Centre in Law village and a nice little venue it is too. We had a good turn out with thirteen members in attendance and 2 good sized games on the go.

1st up Italy WW2 in 10mm : John, Jon and young Martin again set up their excellent looking WW2 scenario with the British working their way through the Italian countryside with the German army lying in wait.

A British column edges slowly along the narrow streets and lanes into enemy held territory unsure what's around the next corner.
Any house or hedgerow could contain enemy artillery spotters or antitank weapons.

The German army sit and wait for the right time. The panzer's are ready for the order to move and the artillery is zeroed in.
Soon the shells start to fall and the Allied armour decide to get off the tight country roads into the surrounding fields.

The Germans plan falls into place and the trap is sprung.

The loses start to mount and things begin to look pretty bleak for the Allied command.

To make matters worse the Germans seem to have reserves around every bend.
In the end it was a victory for the Germans and a bad day for the Allies with their burning vehicles left strewn across the beautiful Italian countryside.
No doubt they will be back to fight another day. A fantastic looking wargame!
